| | | | | | In ancient times, it was thought that this wouldn't work because of TrapMacro/AssertMacro, but changing those to use a comma operator appears to work without compiler warnings.

* A few fixups in error handling: mark pg_re_throw() as noreturn for gcc,Tom Lane2007-05-04
| | | | | | | and for other compilers, insert a dummy exit() call so that they understand PG_RE_THROW() doesn't return. Insert fflush(stderr) in ExceptionalCondition, per recent buildfarm evidence that that might not happen automatically on some platforms. And const-ify ExceptionalCondition's declaration while at it.

| | | | | | | | Also performed an initial run through of upgrading our Copyright date to extend to 2005 ... first run here was very simple ... change everything where: grep 1996-2004 && the word 'Copyright' ... scanned through the generated list with 'less' first, and after, to make sure that I only picked up the right entries ...

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | * removed a few redundant defines * get_user_name safe under win32 * rationalized pipe read EOF for win32 (UPDATED PATCH USED) * changed all backend instances of sleep() to pg_usleep - except for the SLEEP_ON_ASSERT in assert.c, as it would exceed a 32-bit long [Note to patcher: If a SLEEP_ON_ASSERT of 2000 seconds is acceptable, please replace with pg_usleep(2000000000L)] I added a comment to that part of the code: /* * It would be nice to use pg_usleep() here, but only does 2000 sec * or 33 minutes, which seems too short. */ sleep(1000000); Claudio Natoli

* This patch removes a lot of unused code related to assertions andBruce Momjian2002-08-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | error handling, and simplifies the code that remains. Apparently, the code that left Berkeley had a whole "error handling subsystem", which exceptions and whatnot. Since we don't use that anymore, there's no reason to keep it around. The regression tests pass with the patch applied. Unless anyone sees a problem, please apply. Neil Conway

* The heralded `Grand Unified Configuration scheme' (GUC)Peter Eisentraut2000-05-31
| | | | | | | | | | | | | That means you can now set your options in either or all of $PGDATA/configuration, some postmaster option (--enable-fsync=off), or set a SET command. The list of options is in backend/utils/misc/guc.c, documentation will be written post haste. pg_options is gone, so is that pq_geqo config file. Also removed were backend -K, -Q, and -T options (no longer applicable, although -d0 does the same as -Q). Added to configure an --enable-syslog option. changed all callers from TPRINTF to elog(DEBUG)

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Subject: [PATCHES] 970417: two more patches for large objects Here are two more patches: 1. pg_getint doesn't properly set the status flag when calling pqGetShort or pqGetLong. This is required when accessing large objects via libpq. This, combined with problem 1 above causes postgres to crash when postgres tries to print out the message that the status was not good. 2. ExceptionalCondition crashes when called with detail = NULL. This patch prevents dereferencing the NULL.
